September 2025 Newsletter

In this edition, we cover crucial updates and insights on:

  • Golden Week Shutdown (1–7 October)
China’s annual Golden Week holiday will bring widespread factory and port closures. Several blank sailings have already been announced—early bookings are strongly encouraged to avoid delays.

  • Australia Post Resumes U.S. Deliveries
Services to the United States and Puerto Rico will recommence from 25 September following customs system changes.

  • Upcoming Rate Restorations
Shipping lines have implemented consecutive rate increases effective 1 September, 15 September, and 1 October due to peak season demand and expected congestion during Golden Week.

  • New U.S. Trade Fee Implementation
A new fee targeting Chinese-linked vessels will come into effect from 14 October. While this primarily affects U.S. imports, there may be flow-on impacts to routing decisions and global service costs.

  • Global Congestion & Reliability Update
Delays of 1–5 days are ongoing at key ports including Shanghai, Singapore, Hamburg, Sydney, and Fremantle. Schedule reliability remains moderate but unpredictable.

  • ICS2 Phase 3 Goes Live
The final phase of the EU’s Import Control System 2 (ICS2) is now in effect. All shipments—including those by road and rail—require complete pre-arrival data. Non-compliant shipments may face penalties or delays.
