November 2025 Newsletter

In this edition, we cover crucial updates and insights on:

    • General Rate Increases Continue
Major carriers have announced further GRIs of USD $300–500 per TEU effective 15 November, following on from October’s increases—driven by peak season demand and rising operational costs.

    • Port Congestion & Schedule Reliability
Congestion remains a challenge at key ports worldwide. Strikes in Europe, weather delays in China, and vessel bunching at Australian ports (Sydney, Brisbane, Fremantle) are causing delays of up to 7 days. Approximately 8% of sailings have been cancelled globally this month.

    • Terminal Charges to Rise in 2026
From 1 January, stevedores across Australia will increase Terminal Access and ancillary charges by 5–15%, with Fremantle seeing a significant 45% rise. These adjustments will affect shipments arriving in the new year.

    • Fremantle Bridge Closure – Plan Ahead
A major Fremantle traffic bridge will close from February 2026 for 12 months, with expected traffic delays of 2–4 hours during peak times. We recommend after-hours deliveries to minimise impact.

    • Have Your Say – Trade Agreement Reviews
Public consultation is open for the General Reviews of the China-Australia and Indonesia-Australia trade agreements. Submissions close 31 March 2026.

    • Christmas & New Year Closure Planning
Please notify our team of your closure dates and final orders to avoid storage or redelivery fees. If your business remains partially open, let us know how we can best support you during the holiday period.

    • S.A.L. Port Tour – October Wrap-Up
A big thank you to our clients who joined us for the Port of Brisbane tour last month. The day included a supply chain workshop and visits to depots, transport operations, and terminals—made successful by your participation!
